Noodley Fun - Noodle Sensory Bin
Sensory play is irresistible! Kids will love the rainbow of colors and all the different shaped noodles. The unique texture keeps kids engaged while the hands-on activities encourage the development of fine motor skills, concentration, language and imagination. It is also therapeutic because it is calming and soothing.
Supplies:
Food coloring: red, blue, yellow, green, purple
White vinegar
Large ziplock baggies
Parchment paper or wax paper
Noodles: macaroni, penne, rotini, rigatoni, rotelle, fusilli, ziti
Cookie sheets
Large, clear storage container with lid
Instructions:
Put 2 cups of an uncooked noodle in a large ziplock bag. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 10-20 drops of food coloring to the bag. Close the bag and gently shake and squish the bag until all the noodles are covered with color. Repeat this process with each noodle and color. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Spread out the colored noodles on the trays to dry overnight. Use more than one cookie sheet if needed. Store the dried noodles in a large storage container with a lid. Add kitchen gadgets such as cups, spoons, kid- size pots and pans and bowls. Add play letters, numbers, large size tweezers and treasure coins or small toys for the kids to find.
